| Sculptor, born in Bergamo, N Italy. He studied at the Fantoni Trade School, and in 1930 was commissioned to make religious reliefs and saints for the Catholic University of Milan. He taught sculpture in Milan (1940) and Turin (c.1940–5), and revived Classical techniques of relief sculpture in bronze, such as the bronze doors of St Peter's in Rome (1950). His series of cardinals in their tall mitres (more than 50 made after 1936) are executed in various sizes. |
