| Literary critic and writer, born in Biella, Piedmont, N Italy. A contributor to the review Solaria, he belonged to Croce's school at first, but was also influenced by the French and psychoanalysis. As a critic, he specialized in 20th-c Italian literature, producing Il romanzo del novecento (1971) and Poesia italiana del novecento (1974), but also notable are his works on the history of Roman Jews during World War 2, Otto ebrei (1944) and 16 ottobre 1943 (1945). |
