| biography:
| German mystic. She entered the convent of Helfta near Eisleben at the age of five, and when 25 began to have visions which she described in Latin treatises. She was never formally canonized, but her name was added to the Roman Martyrology in 1677, and she was given a feast day (now 16 November). |
