| biography:
| Horticulturalist and garden designer, born in London, UK. She trained as an artist, but was forced by failing eyesight to abandon painting, and took up garden design (1891). In association with the young architect, Edwin Lutyens, her designs for more than 300 gardens for his buildings had a great influence on promoting colour design in garden planning. She also wrote several books, including Colour in the Flower Garden (1918). |
