| biography:
| Writer, born in Groningen, N Netherlands. He studied mathematics and became a computer programmer. Initially, he published traditional prose and poetry in, among others, Tirade and Barbarber. With his novel Het gemillimeterde hoofd (1967, The Short Cropped Head), he freed himself from the conventions of the realistic novel and began experimenting with a fragmented style of storytelling and the use of mathematical elements, schemes, and drawings. The experiment is a representation of his personal exploration of the mysteries of language and reality, which is also reflected in his involvement in programming computers to write poetry, described in appi. Automatic poetry by pointed information. Due to his experimental style, he is often associated with postmodernism. In 1986 he was awarded the Constantijn Huygensprijs. |
