| Sculptor, born in Grans, near Arles, SE France. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier, and in Paris under Emile Bourdelle (1925–9). In 1939–45 she lived in Switzerland. She created insect-like figures and produced a controversial ‘Christ on the Cross’ (1950) for the church at Assy, which also houses work by Matisse and Braque. Other works include ‘Storm Man’ (1948), ‘Diabolo’ (1950), and ‘Chess Pieces’ (1959). |
