| Lord of Beverwijk, Wijk aan Zee, and Noordwijk in The Netherlands, involved in the assassination of Floris V, for which he was executed. The mediaeval historian Melis Stokes claims that van Velsen did this to avenge Floris' seduction of his wife. The story was put into verse by the poet P C Hooft Geraerdt van Velsen (1613). |
