| biography:
| Poet and novelist, born in Limoges, C France. His first novel, La Couleuvre du dimanche, appeared in 1937. Le Pain noir (1956) was followed by three more volumes on the semi-autobiographical family saga, adapted for radio from 1958 and then for television. He published poetry, Une Voix (1956) and Terre de Mémoires (1965), and panoramas of literature: De Rimbaud au Surréalisme (1955) and Ecrivains Contemporains (1965). He was a member of the editorial committee of the review Fontaine in 1940. Awards include the Prix Maurice Bourdet for radio broadcasts and the Grand Prix de littérature de l'Académie Française. |
