| biography:
| Composer and conductor, born in St Ives, Cornwall, SW England, UK. His 3rd symphony and two operas (Iernin, 1935, and The Serf, 1938) were well received in London, before he served during World War 2 in the Royal Marines Band, and was severely shell-shocked. Another opera, John Socman, followed in 1951, but owing to illness he retired to Devon, and composed only intermittently for a period. With improved health he produced several other concertos and symphonies. |
