| Novelist, born in Brockton, Massachusetts, USA. Called to the Massachusetts bar in 1967, he worked in newspapers before becoming a successful attorney. He used his experience of low life and his observation of criminals at close quarters to telling effect in a spate of acclaimed literary thrillers. The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1972) was his first book, and he published many, invariably told almost entirely in dialogue and using Boston as a backdrop. Titles include Kennedy for the Defence (1980), Outlaws (1987), Wonderful Years, Wonderful Years (1988), and Victories (1990). |
