| Anatomist, painter, and engraver, born in Liverpool, Merseyside, NW England, UK. He studied at York, and in 1754 travelled in Italy and Morocco. In 1766 he published his monumental Anatomy of the Horse, illustrated by his own engravings. He was best known for his sporting pictures, and excelled in painting horses. |
