| Archaeologist, born in Smyrna, Greece. He taught for many years in the USA, and became president of the Archaeological Society of America; he was also secretary-general of the Greek Historical Society. His main excavation was at the Outer Grave Circle at Mycenae, and before that the Neolithic material at Olyathus, and the small Bronze Age site at Ayios Kosmas, near Athens airport. He was also responsible for the building of a new museum at Mycenae. |
