| Historian, born in Welcombe, Warwickshire, C England, UK, the son of Sir George Trevelyan. He studied at Cambridge, served in World War 1, and became professor of modern history at Cambridge (1927–40). He is best known as a pioneer social historian. His English Social History (1944) was a companion volume to his History of England (1926). |
