| Lumber executive, born in Seattle, Washington, USA. He studied at Yale, and in 1949 joined the Tacoma-based Weyerhaeuser Co, the family business, working as a mill foreman and branch manager before joining the executive ranks in 1957. Variously president, chief executive officer, and chairman (1966), he rejuvenated the company through restructuring, expansion, diversification, and aggressive marketing. |
