| Food scientist, born in Arizona, USA. Before joining the faculty at the University of California, Davis (1951), he was a research chemist in the food industry and a faculty member at Iowa State University. In 1959 he was named chair of the combined food science and dairy industry departments at Davis, and was the first director of the Food Protection and Toxicology Center there (1965–70). He conducted crucial research in poultry preservation and dehydrated egg products. A prolific writer, he co-edited with Emil M Mrak, Advances in Food Research. |
