| US politician and publican, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. He ran a saloon in Cincinnati and became active in Republican politics. He consolidated his power on the Board of Public Affairs, giving out state jobs, and his political machine controlled the Republican Party in Ohio (1888–1910). Indicted for missing bank payments, he was cleared, but retired from politics (1911) and began investing in the theatre. |
