| Rabbi and educator, born in Stuhlweissenberg, Hungary. He was the son of Alexander Kohut, whom he accompanied to the USA in 1885. He was active in a wide range of Jewish educational projects including schools and camps. Though always in frail health, he was a generous and energetic bibliophile, bibliographer, and patron of Jewish scholarship, and founded the Alexander Kohut Memorial Foundation to Foster Jewish Learning (1915). |
