| Poet, born in Vika, C Sweden. He studied at Uppsala and in Germany. Ennobled by Gustavus Adolphus, he became the favourite court poet of Queen Christina. Besides much lyric poetry, he wrote a didactic allegorical poem, Hercules (1647). He has come to be known as ‘the father of Swedish poetry’. |
