| Spanish alchemist, who took the name of Geber (Latin for Jabir) to trade on the reputation of Jabir ibn Hayyan, a celebrated Arabic alchemist. Geber's principal writings are the clearest exposition of alchemical theory and of laboratory procedures produced before the 16th-c, and were widely read. They include Liber fornacum (1678, Book of Furnaces). |
