| Novelist, born in Siligo, Sardinia, Italy. His experience as an illiterate shepherd who only learned to read and write at the age of 20 was the focus of his successful novel Padre padrone (1975). The same Sardinian peasant society forms the background of his other novels, Lingua di falce (1977) and Il muflone (1985). |
