| biography:
| French poet and priest. He is credited as the writer of a treatise on the universe, L'Image du monde (c.1246), also known as Mappemonde, based on the mediaeval Latin text Imago mundi by Honorius Inclusus. Gautier's poem deals with creation, geography, and astronomy in an encyclopaedic way, but mixing fact with imagination. |
