| biography:
| Condottiere, born in Narni, Umbria, C Italy. He started his career with Ceccolo Broglio and Braccio da Montone. He then went on to serve Florence and the pope, and finally became commander-in-chief of the Venetian army (1437). With the help of Francesco Sforza he conquered Verona from the Viscontis (1439). He was immortalized by Donatello in 1453 in a famous equestrian monument in Padua. |
