| Cartoonist, born in New York City, New York, USA. While an undergraduate at Yale University, he created a comic strip, ‘Bull Tales’, which later became Doonesbury, a comic strip characterized by its wry humour and satirical presentation of contemporary events. The strip became nationally syndicated and won a Pulitzer Prize (1975). Doonesbury was occasionally so controversial that papers refused to run certain installments. Trudeau took a break during 1982–4, and returned to syndication in September 1984. |
