| Physicist, born in Hollerich, S Luxembourg. Professor of mathematical and experimental physics at the Sorbonne (1886), he invented a capillary electrometer, and produced the first coloured photograph of the spectrum. He was awarded the 1908 Nobel Prize for Physics. |
