| Chemist, born in Ljubljana, Slovenia (formerly Laibach, Austria). He studied at the University of Graz, with which he was associated for most of his life, and where he became director of the Medico-Chemical Institute (1913). He was specially noted for developing microchemical methods of analysis, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1923. |
