| Animated cartoon director and producer, born in Kansas City, Kansas, USA. After winning a cartoon contest, he joined Disney, then moved to Hollywood to animate Oswald the Rabbit. He made a trial sound cartoon, Bosko the Talk-Ink Kid (1929), then made Looney Tunes, starting with Sinkin' in the Bathtub (1930). He is best known for Sylvester the lisping cat in Tweety Pie (1946), for which he won his first Oscar, and the Mexican mouse, Speedy Gonzalez (1955). |
