| Astronomer, born in Memel, East Prussia (now Klaipeda, Lithuania). Between 1852 and 1861 he plotted the position of all stars of the N hemisphere above the ninth magnitude, publishing them in the major star catalogue called the Bonner Durchmusterung (1859–62). This work was reissued in 1950. |
