| Painter and etcher, born in Richmond, Victoria, SE Australia. He studied at the National Gallery School and at the Chelsea and Central Schools of Art, London. He is recognized as the most significant painter of the Australian landscape since Sir Arthur Streeton. An international reputation was secured by his 1977 exhibition Landscapes of a Continent at the Museum of Modern Art, New York City. |
