| biography:
| Religious foundress, born in Genoa, NW Italy. Her brother was a parish priest in the city, and she assisted him by teaching the local poor children. From this humble beginning, she founded (1834) the Sisters of St Dorothy Congregation, which soon spread across Italy and overseas to the Americas. She was beatified in 1930, and canonized in 1984. Feast day 11 June. |
