| biography:
| Writer, born in Vienna, Austria. He emigrated to Switzerland in 1938. His early work, which was influenced by Georg Kaiser, shows Expressionist influences and includes the plays Jehr (1933) and Liebe in Florenz (1936). He later employed a more classical manner, using historical themes to address contemporary issues, as in Das heilige Experiment (1943) and Meier Helmbrecht (1946). |
