| Editor, born in Shawnee Co, Kentucky, USA. In 1904 he joined Joseph Pulitzer's New York World as editorial page editor and heir apparent, and became editor-in-chief from 1911 until his death. He spoke forcefully for liberal causes, and became a close adviser to President Woodrow Wilson. |
