| French pianist and composer, born in Frankfurt, WC Germany. He gained the 1er Prix du Conservatoire in 1940 and the Concours Long-Thibaud in 1943. Well known for his interpretations of Chopin, and also Liszt, Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, and Prokofiev, whose music inspired him, he wrote Concerto pour piano (1950). |
