| Sculptor, born in Troyes, NEC France. He studied in Rome (1645–50) then returned to Paris and worked with Lebrun at Versailles for Louis XIV (1666–73). He is noted for his fountain figures and was the most classical of the royal sculptors. He also designed Cardinal Richelieu's tomb (1694) in the chapel of the Sorbonne, Paris. Other important works include ‘Les Bain des Nymphes’ (1668–70). |
