| Miniaturist painter, born in Lunéville, NE France. He studied for a time under Jean Girardet and in 1788 was elected to the Academy. He painted portraits of most of the eminent people of his day, including Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, Louis XVIII, and Charles X. |
