| Chemist, born in Nontron, SWC France. Professor of mathematics at Passy when only 17, he turned to the study of physics and chemistry. Later he became professor of mineralogy, physics, and chemistry at Madrid, where he carried out the research on platinum which resulted in an ingot of malleable platinum (1783). |
