| Novelist, born in Gijón, NE Spain. His first success, Aires de mar (1900), was achieved in competition with Pérez Galdós and Echegaray. Later works include Huella de almas (1901), Dolorosa (1904), El calvario (1905), Rosa mística (1909), and Penumbra (1924). He also wrote a collection of short stories De mi rincón (1901), and plays influenced by Benavente and Pérez Galdós. |
