| Painter, born in Edinburgh, EC Scotland, UK. He studied in Paris (1899–1903), visited Munich in 1907, and returned to Edinburgh in 1909. In 1912 he founded the Society of Eight. One of the ‘Scottish Colourists’, he painted landscapes, interiors, and still-life, in broad patches of brilliant, high-keyed colour. |
