| Painter, born in Pitigliano, NC Italy. He trained at Florence and Rome, and was active at Florence, but worked mainly in Venice after 1732. His pastoral landscapes, populated by shepherds and maidens and painted in a soft Rococo style, were very popular, especially in England, where he worked 1752–62 and 1765–71. |
