| Physician and poet, born in Arezzo, NC Italy. He studied at Florence and Pisa, and became physician to the dukes of Tuscany. He wrote a book on animal parasites, and proved by a series of experiments that maggots cannot form spontaneously on meat that has been covered. As a poet, his chief work is Bacco in Toscana (1685, Bacchus in Tuscany). |
