| Italian patriot, born in Bergamo, Lombardy, N Italy. He took part in Milan's Five Days insurrection (1848), and in the Roman Republic's defence, was one of Garibaldi's thousand volunteers (1860) and was with him at Aspromonte in 1862. He died fighting for Poland's freedom at the head of a group of volunteers. |
