| King of the Two Sicilies, born in Naples, SW Campania, Italy, the son of Ferdinand I and Maria Carolina of Austria. He escaped to Sicily with his father when the French army entered Naples (1806), and was viceroy of Sicily (1815–20). Apparently well disposed towards revolutionary rising, he turned into a reactionary on becoming king in 1825. |
