| biography:
| Writer and journalist, born in Milan, Lombardy, N Italy. She is best known for her three novels where the women protagonists' chronological progression somehow reflects her own, Il cuore borghese (1972, The Bourgeois Heart), Madre e figlia (1980, Mother and Daughter), and L'uomo del parco (1982, The Man in the Park). In later works she progresses from the pessimistic view of ‘post modernity’ in Verso Paola (1991, Journey to Paola) to the ambitious Il figlio dell'impero (1993, The Son of the Empire), a historical novel set in 19th-c France. |
