| biography:
| Catalan painter, illustrator, and engraver, born in Barcelona, NE Spain. Self-taught, he helped to introduce the lithograph and daguerrotype into Spain. His collection of 588 lithographs for the special edition of Recuerdos y bellezas de España, consisting of romantic landscapes and monuments and fine buildings, is of important documentary value as it depicts many buildings that have since been destroyed or greatly altered. His work can be seen in the museums of modern art at Barcelona, Madrid, and in the Alcazar in Sevilla. |
