| Novelist and biographer, born in Lincoln, EC England, UK. She studied at Somerville College, Oxford. Her first publication was a biography of Edward Burne-Jones (1975), followed by a portrait of her father, Edmund Knox, editor of Punch, and his three brothers, entitled The Knox Brothers (1977). Her fiction includes Offshore (1979, Booker Prize), Innocence (1986),The Gate of Angels (1990), and The Blue Flower (1995). |
