| Italian general, born in Fossano, Piedmont, NW Italy. He was special commissioner of the Milan province in May 1898 and in charge of the bloody suppression of the popular revolt against the rising prices of primary goods. For this, King Umberto I conferred on him a military honour ‘for services to the institutions and civilization’. |
