| biography:
| Italian writer, born in Alexandria, N Egypt. He studied in Paris and Genoa, then worked as a journalist in Milan. He published the original Futurist manifesto in Figaro in 1909. In his writings he glorified war, the machine age, speed and ‘dynamism’, and condemned all traditional forms of literature and art. In 1919 he became a Fascist. His publications include Le futurisme (1911) and Teatro sintetico futuristo (1916, Synthetic Futurist Theatre). |
