| biography:
| Catalan painter, who lived in Barcelona, Spain. In 1324 he painted two murals for the chapel of the old church of Sitges on the Mediterranean coast. In 1333 he appeared at the court of Alfonso III ‘the Good’, where he remained for some years, but no work attributed to him during this period has been found. He probably spent some time in Italy since the influence of Giotto is especially noticeable in his work. We know that he illuminated a copy of the Usatges (1333), and a little later a Book of Hours which Pedro III declared to be very beautiful. He painted altarpieces for the Aljaferia chapel of Zaragoza (1339) and others for the chapels of the royal palaces of Lleida, Perpignan, and Barcelona. |
