He designed cars for Daimler and Auto Union, then set up his own studio, and in 1934 produced the plans for a revolutionary type of cheap car with the engine in the rear, to which the Nazis gave the name Volkswagen (‘people's car’). The Porsche sports car was introduced in 1950. |
