| Painter, draughtsman, and illustrator, born in Poland. He studied at Warsaw, and in Italy and Paris, and went to England in 1935. From 1940 to 1945 he was an official war artist, and became a British citizen in 1947. His lively and sensitive drawings, depicting everyday life, appeared in many books and periodicals, and he also designed for the theatre. His publications include Britain in Peace and War (1941), 88 Pictures (1951), and Topolski's Chronicle (1953–79, 1982–9). |
