| Oregon pioneer and trapper, born in E Tennessee, USA. He trapped in New Mexico before travelling throughout California (1832–4). With Hall Jackson Kelley, he went to Oregon (1834) and became a leader in that area, building a sawmill and extending the cultivation of his lands. |
